Abstract:

Mathematical modelling is increasingly central to pharmaceutical research and development through the framework of model-informed drug development (MIDD). This talk will introduce the core principles of MIDD and showcase its practical application using various modelling techniques, with a focus on mechanism-based systems pharmacology models. We will explore specific examples from the development of antibody therapeutics and CAR-T cell therapies, highlighting how these models inform key decisions and advance the development of novel treatments.

Cole is an applied mathematician specializing in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) and Pharmacometrics, currently contributing to the advancement of antibody therapeutics at AbCellera. Their experience in the pharmaceutical industry includes a role as a Modelling and Simulation Scientist at Notch Therapeutics. Their academic background includes postdoctoral research at Vanderbilt University, where they investigated pattern formation in biological systems, and a PhD in Mathematics from UBC (2018).
