Jupiter Algorta is an MSc student in Mathematical Biology at the University of British Columbia, working under the supervision of Dr. Leah Edelstein-Keshet. His research focuses on computational modelling of single-cell behaviour, particularly how cells polarize and migrate in response to chemical and mechanical cues. Jupiter combines Cellular Potts Models, finite element methods, and optogenetic data to investigate cell motility, polarity reversal, and signal transduction. They are also actively involved in organizing the UBC Math-Bio Seminar Series.
