Daniel Coombs obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Arizona and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is currently Professor and Department Head of UBC Mathematics.

His research interests include theoretical immunology, pathogen biology, epidemic modelling and cell-scale biophysics.
