Guodong Gai receives the Mathematics Department Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Postdoctoral Fellow (2022)

The undergraduate committee makes this award each semester to recognize the teaching contributions of our postdoctoral fellows. We rely heavily on their efforts, especially but not exclusively in 100- and 200- level classes. Congratulations to Guodong and Farid, and thanks for all you do for the department.

Guodong Gai taught MATH 100 and MATH 101. His teaching is clear, enthusiastic, and extremely conscientious, an examplar of reassuring instruction to first-year students. In their nominations, his students emphasized how much he cares about their learning. One wrote: "He cares deeply about making us understand, going out of his way to answer our questions and make sure we know what is being taught to us.”
