Abstract:

This event is part of the International Women’s Day (IWD), but is suitable and welcoming for everyone, especially undergraduates!

Dr. Shohini Ghose is a Professor of Physics & Computer Science at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, the author of two books (the latest is titled Her Space, Her Time: How Trailblazing Women Scientists Decoded the Hidden Universe) which will be the topic of her talk. Dr. Ghose is also a TED Senior Fellow, NSERC Chair for Women in Science & Engineering, Director, Research & Programs, Laurier Centre for Women in Science, and Chief Technology Officer of the Quantum Algorithms Institute.
Engaging and accessible to scientists and non-scientists alike, Dr. Ghose’s thoroughly researched book tells the inspiring stories of women physicists and astronomers from around the world who discovered fundamental rules of the universe and whose critical roles and
contributions have not always been well-acknowledged.
