Midterm exam 2 has average 29.1 out of 40. It was attended by 85 students.
The other two morning sections have slightly lower averages, opposite to
the situation in MT1.
Because the average of our MT1 was 20.6, it is likely that we will
rescale MT1+MT2
up slightly to match the final exam average.

On exam conflict and hardship,
a message from Math department secretary
Margaret Ness <ness@math.ubc.ca> :
"now that the final exam schedule for December 2014 has been released,
students may approach you to say they have an exam conflict or hardship. A
conflict can be two exams at one time, or a conflict due to religious
practices etc. An exam hardship is defined by UBC as 3 exams WITHIN 24
hours, for example Dec. 5th at 12 noon & 3:30 pm and Dec. 6th at 8:30 am.
Please ask these students to email me or come and see me and I will assess
their circumstances and arrange for an alternate exam sitting for those
with
legitimate cases. Do not make alternate arrangements with individual
students on your own as we have to treat everyone fairly as defined by UBC
Exam Policy.
The deadline for reporting conflicts or hardships is one month before the
date of the final exam, so, encourage them to contact me sooner rather than
later."
