A survey of recent progress in general relativity
In this talk we will survey recent progress which has been made
in the mathematical theory of general relativity. This will include
a discussion of the work of Huisken, Ilmanen, and Bray on the
Penrose conjecture and the new understanding of quasilocal mass
which it gives. We will also describe recent work of Corvino and
the speaker on the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the vacuum
Einstein equations.
