New directions in the global theory of noncompact
constant mean curvature surfaces

Over the last ten or fifteen years, much has been discovered bout the existence and moduli of constant mean curvature surfaces with finite topology in R^3. I will survey some of these developments, with special reference to some of the analytic ideas behind the proofs, and will also present some ideas for future directions in this subject.

Refreshments will be served at 3:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, Math Annex (Room 1115).
