Eigenvalue problems and Schubert calculus
Schubert calculus played a role in the solution to Horn's problem
-- to characterize the possible eigenvalues of Hermitian matrices
A, B, and A+B. We will describe this result, as well as some more
recent results of a similar nature.
Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge,
Math Annex (Room 1115).
