Random motions in random media

Abstract: The mathematical analysis of models of particles moving randomly in disordered environments has been very active over the last thirty years. It has uncovered a number of surprising effects and mathematical challenges. We will discuss some of these effects and challenges in this lecture, which is aimed at a general mathematical audience.

Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, Math Annex (Room 1115).
