Arithmetic quantum chaos on higher-rank locally symmetric spaces

I shall discuss progress on the equidistribution problem for automorphic forms on locally symmetric spaces. Beyond the interest in the studying the analytic properties of eigenfunctions on a general manifold, in this case there are connections to number theory, especially the theory of L-functions.
