MATH ANNEX 1100

Ivar Ekeland
PIMS & UBC

Nuts, bolts, and markets

We will see how to transport nuts and bolts from a given place to another at minimal cost, we will assemble them, and we will use the machinery thus constructed to find a price equilibrium in a hedonic market. These are typical of quality goods, such as jobs or housing, where the question is not how many you have, but how good is the one you have.

Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m. (MATX 1115, Math Lounge).
