The geometry of root stacks and gerbes
Abstract: Root stacks and gerbes were defined recently and have been
very useful in algebraic geometry. I will give an introduction to these
objects, providing several ways of understanding and visualizing them.
Then I will describe some applications to Gromov-Witten theory, enumerative
geometry, and toric geometry.
Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m. (Math Lounge, MATX 1115).
