4,000 years of Pythagoras' Theorem
The theorem that c^2= a^2+ b^2 has been discovered independently
by many cultures in the course of time, and greatly admired by
others. I'll present a history of the theorem in images. The talk
will be as much about the use of technology in mathematical
exposition and the role of mathematics in general culture as
about ancient history.
Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge,
Math Annex (Room 1115).
