UBC Mathematics: MathNet FAQ [Out of Toner]

Question: What do I do when the printer is out of paper or toner?
Author: Joseph Tam

If a printer has run out of paper (the trays are empty and no packages of paper can be found near the printer), then some more paper can be fetched from MATH118 (photocopier room). Please notify the Front Desk Receptionist so that proper inventory can be kept. If you are strong enough, take an entire box so that this tiresome chore is done less frequently.

You can usually ignore the printer if it complains that it is low on toner; the toner warning is based on conservative estimates of toner usage, and when this warning first appears, there is usually a significant amount of toner left. Only when printed page have light or bald patches should the IT staff be notified that the toner cartridge needs replacing. Shaking the toner cartridge usually yield a few more pages of life if you need to eek out a few usable pages, but please notify the IT staff to replace the cartridge.

If this your personal printer (i.e. not a printer for public use maintained by the MathNet IT staff), you should read this FAQ on how to order your own toner cartridge:
