Se torea como se es - Juan Belmonte

About the Glison torus

In my Geometry class with El Roli (back in'99) I had an Idea: find the (horn) torus where the perimeter of the maximal circle was equal to the perimeter of a cross section of the donut. A regular, circular torus wouldn't work, it had to be elliptic. Perimeters of ellipses are not analyitically computable, so several years passed until I was able to numerically compute it. Since the ellipses touch at the centre, it is technically a horn torus, i.e., the horn of the bull. I named this torus the Glison, for a mexican bullfighter that was very familiar and intimate with them.
