Exam and Grade policy:
Two common midterm exams and a common final examination will be given to all students in all sections of Math 103. The midterm exams will take place in the evening on dates to be announced.
Homework will be assigned weekly (see the homework link above). Late homework will not be accepted; however, the worst two homework grades (including zero) will not be counted in the final evaluation.
Working together with fellow students on homework problems is encouraged, but you should strive to understand the ideas behind the homework. During exams, communication with others is not permitted and notes, calculators, computers and communication devices are not allowed. For information regarding UBC policy on student conduct and discipline, please click here.
Each Math 103 student must be registered in a Lab section.
The Lab sections, as well as the various lecture sections, of Math 103 are listed HERE.
The grade for the course will be calculated (approximately) as follows:
Final exam 50%; Midterm exams 30%; Homework 10%; Labs 10%;
Makeup exams will NOT be given. In case of a missed midterm exam for medical reasons (documented with a medical note) or for other valid circumstances, with prior consultation with the instructor, allowances will be made on an individual basis.
Best wishes for a successful semester!
