General Information on Midterm Tests

Midterm Test Dates: Tue Feb 1 and Tue Mar 15, both during the regular lecture time, in LSK 201.

Calculators: No calculators or cell phones are allowed on the midterm tests.

Missed Midterm Tests: Allowance for a missed midterm test may be granted in the following two circumstances: (a) prior notice of a valid, documented absence (e.g. out-of-town varsity athletic commitment) on the scheduled date; or (b) notification to the instructor within 72 hours of absence due to medical condition. Otherwise the score is 0. Original written documentation (for example a doctor’s note or letter from a coach) is required.

Cheating: UBC takes cheating incidents very seriously. After due investigation, students found guilty of cheating on tests and exams are usually given a final grade of 0 in the course, suspended from UBC for one year, and a notation made on their Transcript of Academic Record. More information.

TEST COLLECTION

You will receive 5 minute and 1 minute warnings to the end of the test.
When the end of the test is announced:
- remain seated
- put away all writing implements
- pass your test to the aisles
- continue to remain seated
When all tests are collected, you may get up and leave.
Tests handed in late receive a mark penalty.

Midterm Test 1 Solutions (average mark 28/40 or 70%)

Midterm Test 2 Solutions (average mark 25/40 or 62.5%)

Scaling of marks: Term marks for this section (MT1 20%, MT2 20%, all HW 10%) will be scaled according to how this section performs on the final exam (50% of final grade in course).
