- Midterm 1:
- The syllabus for midterm 1 covers Sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 3.1.
- Here are two past midterms from previous offerings of this course. These should serve as good indicators of the type of problems that you might expect and the level of difficulty.
- Practice midterm version I , with solutions. Problem 4 on this exam is not on our syllabus for Midterm 1, so you can skip this one for now.
- Practice midterm version II , with solutions.

- The first midterm will be held in class on Wednesday February 11. The allotted time is 50 minutes.
- We will spend two lectures during the week of February 2 on review. Practice problem sheets will be handed out in class for you to work on.
- Extra office hours will be held the week of February 2 to help you prepare for the midterm. Times will be announced here shortly.
- Please note than Monday November 9 is a statutory holiday. UBC will be closed.
- I will be out of town on Tuesday November 10 and will not be able to access email on that day.
- You may find Piazza (links above) a useful resource during the exam period. Please use it as a discussion forum and to help each other prepare for the test. The TA for this course (Ching Wong) will also be available on Piazza to answer last-minute questions, especially during February 9 and 10.
