**NOTE:**Phase portrait of an improper node! There was a question about how to draw the "S" curve of an improper node. The e-vector**v**divides the plane into two halves, and one contains the vector**w**. The trajectories in that half-plane turn and (eventually) go parallel in the direction of**v.**The trajectories in the other half-plane turn and go parallel but in the opposite direction to**v**.
