Calculus Exam Report--June 2005

Participation: The exam was written by 209 students, although 214 had registered and paid the non-refundable fee. Among the 209 students who wrote, 208 earned a raw score of 10% or higher. All statistics that follow refer to this group of 208.

Summary: Of the 208 students discussed below, 157 earned a score of 50% or better. In other words, 73% of the participants passed the test and are eligible to claim credit at a sponsoring university. The median grade was 64.5%.

Scores of 90% or higher were earned by 24 students; scores below 30% were recorded by 26 students. There was a two-way tie for 100%.

Details: Question-by-question results are shown in the following table. To illustrate the meaning of its entries, consider Question 4. This question was worth 8 marks of the 100 marks on the paper. About 77% of all candidates earned at least one mark on this question (1/8=12.5%); 66% of all candidates got 4 marks or more; indeed, 63% got 6 or more marks.
