Fall 2009: Étale Cohomology
- The seminar will take place on Tuesdays 12:30-2pm in MATX 1102.
The first, introductory, lecture will take place Tuesday, September 15th.
- Reading Course number: 620D, section 101
- The main reference will be below. For prerequisites, we have to
assume some algebraic geometry, that is familiarity with the notion of an
algebraic variety (ideally, also of ringed spaces, sheaves, and schemes).
A good reference for that is Milne's notes (if you read the beginning
of Hartshorne, it should be enough as well). While also assumes some
homological algebra, we can plan to review it as needed; will probably will
briefly review sheaves as well.
(references without number are to Milne's notes)
