Textbook: The required textbook for this course is Calculus: Early Transcendentals with student solutions manual, Volume 1. Fourth custom edition for UBC, by Briggs, Cochran and Gillett. ISBN 10 digit: 1-269-91047-7. ISBN 13 digit: 978-269-91047-7. This book is available at the UBC Bookstore. Note that there may be differences in page number references and problem numbering between different editions if you use a different edition of the Briggs, Cochran and Gillett textbook. It is up to you to deal with any such potential inconsistencies if you use a different edtition of the text.

Quizzes: There are about 6 in-class Quizzes which are worth 5% of your grade. Calculators are not allowed on quizzes. The dates of doing the quizzes will be announced in class.

For commerce students in section 102: Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are hour-long group study sessions offered by the UBC Sauder School of Business. They are led by an upper-year commerce student and offer a collaborative environment for extra revision where no grades are taken. Each session will cover material from the previous week in a manner that focuses on course concepts and study skills. Larger sessions will be scheduled prior to midterm and final exams. The link is
