Joint with Rahul Pandharipande

We investigate the extent to which the higher genus local
theory of a Calabi-Yau threefold is well-defined. By rigidity
results, the local theory is well-defined for degree at most 2.
We show the most natural approach to the local theory fails
in degree 3.
