Homework assignments will be due at the beginning of class.
Each assignment will be announced and posted here at least a week in advance.
- Homework 1, due on Friday, January 17:
This assignment covers Sections 13.1 and 13.2 of the textbook. You are responsible for
all of the material in these sections.
Update: Please note that there is a typo in the statement of Problem 3. The vector r(1)
should have 3 components, not 2. Please use r(1)=(1,1,0) (Section 201) or r(1)=
(1,1,1) (Section 202).

- Homework 2, due on Friday, January 31: These questions cover Sections 13.3 and 13.4 of
the textbook. You are responsible for all of the material in these sections, except for Kepler's laws
(last part of Section 13.4, pp. 891-893)
Some students are using the 6th edition of the Stewart textbook.
Question numbers from that edition are provided as a courtesy to those students (the problems
themselves are the same, only the section and problem numbers are different).
When writing up your homeworks, please use
the problem numbers from the 7th (current) edition of the textbook.

Guidelines for writing and submitting your homework:
- Show all work. Write clearly and legibly, in complete sentences.
For full credit, your solutions must be not only correct but also clearly explained.
- Do all problems in sequence if possible.
For each solution, identify clearly the section and problem number
(e.g. 1.2, 1.30). Staple your assignment.
- You may discuss the
homework with other students, but the final write-up must be your own.

or drop it off at your instructor's office before 12 noon on the due date.
Late homework will not be accepted.
