Basic Information

Grading: is based on homework (10%), 2 midterms (Oct. 2, Nov. 6; 40%), and the final exam (common exam for all Math 100) (50%). The final examination date is announced later in the term. Attendance at the final examination is required, so avoid other commitments (such as travel) until the exam schedule appears.

Homework: will be assigned each week, and due Friday at the beginning of class. Late submissions will not be accepted. You are encouraged to discuss the homework with other students, but you must write the solutions on your own.

Missed work: will, in general, be given a grade of zero. If you are unable to write a midterm or hand in a problem set on time, and if you (a) have a legitimate excuse and supporting documentation (e.g., a medical certificate in the case of an illness), and (b) notify me as soon as possible, we can arrange either to base your course mark on other work (re-adjusting the percentages), or to make up the missed work.
