Studying for the Final Exam:  Please work through and make sure you understand everything from both midterms and all quizzes. Work through practice problems from the text and look back on past Webwork assignments. It can be helpful to work through final exams from past years which can be found here. In particular, I recommend working through the final exams from Math 105, April 2011 and April 2010, as well as from Math 101, April 2011 and April 2010. However, since they are not part of our syllabus, please ignore the following questions:

                        Math 105, April 2011 final exam -  ignore: #2, #4, #5, #9(a),(g)

                        Math 105, April 2010 final exam; -  ignore: #1(e),(g),(j),(k), #2, #3, #5

                        Math 101, April 2011 final exam -  ignore: #1(c),(d),(g)-(i), #2, #3, #5, #6(b)

                        Math 101, April 2010 final exam -  ignore: #1(c),(e), #2, #4, #5(a), #6

Grading Scheme:  Final Exam 50%, 2 Midterms 15% + 15% = 30%, Quizzes 10%, Webwork Homeworks 10%.

Cell Phone Policy:  PLEASE TURN OFF OR SILENCE YOUR CELL PHONE BEFORE THE START OF EACH CLASS.  Also, please refrain from using laptops, Ipads, etc. in class. These devices can be very distracting to the people around you.  Any object more technologically advanced than a pen, a pencil or a piece of paper will not be permitted during lectures, exams or quizzes.

Email Policy:  Please check your email daily.  I will often email important class announcements.  Be sure to check whatever email address you have provided UBC.

Midterm Dates:  Midterm 1 is on Friday, February 3rd; Midterm 2 is on Friday, March 16th.

Quizzes:  A short quiz will be given at the beginning of class approximately once per week.  These quizzes will generally consist of one or two short problems on the material presented in the previous three classes.  Please do not arrive late to class.  These quizzes will usually last for the first 10 minutes of our time, so if you come to class too late, then you will not have time to complete or possibly even begin the quiz.  Make-up quizzes will not be given, even in the case of medical absence.  At the end of the term, I will drop the lowest quiz score from your grade. Note that the next quiz will be on Friday, March 30th.
