EXAM INFORMATION

Lecture Hours: Monday and Wednesday, 16:00-18:00 in Buchanan B314
Drop-in Tutorials: The mathematics department runs a free tutorial centre staffed by teaching assistants, all of whom are capable of answering your calculus questions. For more details, go here.
Homework and Quizzes: Homework will be posted online every week (link below), and will be due at the beginning of class. On the due date, I will flip a coin; if it lands on heads, I will collect the homework, and if it lands on tails, we will have a 15-20 minute quiz consisting of two or three questions. These questions will be taken directly from the assignment. The homework assignment must be stapled; I do not accept responsibility for loose pages that get misplaced, and neither will the grader. For the sake of the environment, please write on both sides of the paper.
Grading Scheme: Final exam 50%; midterms 30% (2 midterms worth 15% each); quizzes and homework 15%; basic skills test 5% (see here for details concerning the basic skills test)
Final Exam Date: The final exam is scheduled for December 18th at 8:30 AM in SWNG 222
Midterm Dates: Wednesday October 3rd and Wednesday November 7th (subject to change)
Calculators: No calculators or formula sheets are allowed on the final exam, midterm exams, or quizzes.
Missed Quizzes, and Midterms: If a quiz or assignment is missed for a documented medical or other acceptable reason, it will be ignored. Allowance for a missed midterm may be granted in the following two circumstances: (a) prior notice of a valid, documented absence (e.g. out-of-town varsity athletic commitment) on the scheduled date; or (b) notification to the instructor within 72 hours of absence due to medical condition. Original written documentation, for example a doctor’s note or letter from a coach, is required; otherwise, a score of 0 will be given for the missed quiz, assignment, or midterm.
