The math midterms will be in your boxes on Monday morning. Solutions (with some details left for the reader to fill in) are posted on the handouts page. The distribution of marks is illustrated in the image below. The average was 64% +/- 17%. Overall, Q1 and Q2 were done quite well (average 3.65/5 and 3.7/5). Curve sketching was weaker (average on Q3 was 7/10) and the IVT problem (Q4) was done very poorly (average 3.5/10). As time may have been a factor on Q4, we made it out of 5 instead of 10 (except for cases in which that led to a lower mark overall).

By now, you have all found the results of the math quiz in your sci1 "mailbox". Overall the class did quite well (mean 21, three scores of 30/30), but I should reiterate Mark's comment in class that the actual scores should not be taken as indicators of anything due to the circumstances (e.g. 50 minutes for a 90 minute quiz). What you should take away from it is some indication of how well you remember your high school math. For those scoring below 20/30, I would highly recommend doing some review. In fact, its probably a good idea to review material underlying any problems you didn't get. The text-book publisher has some useful practice problems online (links below) that I encourage you to work through. There is absolutely no point in just looking at them though. Do them.
