Grading Scheme: Final exam 50%; Midterms 35% (2 midterms @ 17.5% each); Quizzes 15% (best 8 of 9, based on assigned but uncollected weekly homework assignments)

Quiz Dates: (All on Fridays) Jan. 13; Jan. 20; Jan. 27; Feb. 3; Feb. 24; Mar. 3; Mar. 10; Mar. 17; Mar. 31.
NOTE: Feb 24 Quiz is cancelled.
Calculators: No calculators are allowed on the final exam or on midterm exams. Unless otherwise stated, calculators are also not allowed on quizzes.
Missed Quizzes or Midterms: If a quiz is missed for a documented medical or other reason, it will be ignored. Permission to write a makeup midterm may be granted in the following two circumstances: (a) prior notice of a valid, documented absence (e.g. out-of-town varsity athletic commitment) on the scheduled date; or (b) notification to the instructor within 72 hours of absence due to medical condition. Original written documentation, for example a doctor’s note or letter from a coach, is required; otherwise, a score of 0 will be given for the missed quiz or midterm.
