I am a postdoc in the Mathematical Biology group in the Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. With my advisor Dr. Daniel Coombs I am studying problems in mathematical immunology and infectious diseases, specifically with regards to HIV.

Between September 2008 and January 2010 my postdoc was jointly supervised by Dr. Babak Pourbohloul in the Division of Mathematical Modeling at the BC Centre for Disease Control. As part of Dr. Pourbohloul's team I worked on problems in both HIV and influenza epidemiology.

Between 2002 and 2008 I was a graduate student in the Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics Department at Northwestern University in Evanston (just north of Chicago), IL, USA. Since 2003 I had been working with my advisor Dr. Hermann Riecke on modeling complex patterns in oscillatory systems; I successfully defended my Ph.D. on July 23rd, 2008.
