If you are to miss a midterm due to religious observance, two weeks written notice is required by the student. Missed final exams and long-term circumstances are dealt with by the Faculty of Science, see academic regulations. The official guidelines for UBC academic policy is the Vancouver Calendar 2011/12.
  • Midterm 1 - taken Wednesday, October 17
  • Exam 1 - taken Wednesday, December 5
  • Midterm 2 - taken Wednesday, February 13
  • Exam 2 - scheduled for Monday, April 22

Assignments

All assignments will have two portions, one online and one written. It is advisable to do most of the online part before starting the written part as the written part will be more challenging.

The online portion of an assignment will be posted on WeBWorK, an online homework system. You can access WeBWorK here. Click on the course name, MATH_110_003_2012W1-2 and login with your CWL. Sometimes Firefox doesn't allow access to WeBWork; if this happens, try using a different internet browser. WeBWorK will be graded online; you do not need to submit anything by hand.

The written portion of an assignment will be posted below. Solutions are due at the beginning of class on the due date. Solutions should be neatly written or typed, stapled together, and written in complete sentences. See a sample solution here. Graded assignments will be dropped off in the filing cabinet at the top of the center stairs in the Mathematics Building.
