This term, we agreed section wide to use Piazza for course related questions. This is a newsgroup like message board where students can go online and post questions that both myself and others can answer. Please post all general course questions on Piazza. For more personal matters, feel free to email me. I will freely use both this webpage and Piazza for communication so please be sure to check both often.

You may need a UBC email account to log in. If you do not have one, try this link, which should work for any student even though it says alumni. If you’re still having problems logging in to Piazza, please email me as soon as possible. Piazza is my primary link to you. Not to mention most of the help will be available through Piazza.

Drop-in help is available for all first-year students at the Math Learning Centre (MLC) in LSK 100 (on the third floor). The MLC is open from 9:00 to 7:00 Monday to Thursday and 9:00 to 4:00 on Fridays.

The review sessions on Tuesday will be a 90 minute session where we can talk about the previous weeks lessons, we can discuss this weeks problems, points of interest from the lectures as well as any other concerns we have in the course. They will be held in MATH 203.

We will follow a set of course notes written by Leah Keshet here.

Lab and Midterm Information

Lab information will be updated soon.

The midterms are each worth 15%. The dates for the midterms as well as their location can be found on the common page found here.

Regrading policy: Please indicate which problems you would like to have regarded on a sticky note/stapled piece of paper on the quiz or midterm in question. I will have a look at the question in doubt, however I will also look at all other questions as well. This means that your mark could decrease after regrading. If the error in question is simply an addition error, then I will unconditionally fix it. I will not accept papers for regrading until 24 hours after both solutions have been posted and you have received your assignment.
