VECTOR CALCULUS BRIDGE PROJECT
Faculty Workshop, August 14-16
Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR

The NSF-funded Vector Calculus Bridge Project seeks to "bridge the gap" between the way mathematicians on the one hand, and physical scientists and engineers on the other, do vector calculus. We believe the way to do this is to emphasize the geometry of vector calculus. We have developed a series of guided group activities to do just that, and are in the process of writing an Instructor's Guide to accompany them.

This workshop will teach participants how to use our materials, including discussions of the motivation behind their development. The workshop is primarily aimed at those interested in actually using our materials in the (mathematics or physics) classroom, but anyone interested in our approach to teaching vector calculus is encouraged to apply. We expect to be able to cover local expenses, but not travel, for all invited participants; space is limited.
