Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

The spring meeting of the PNWMAA meeting to be held at Central Washington University on April 3-4, 2009 is fast approaching. As the program co-chair, I am inviting all section members interested in presenting in contributed paper sessions to submit abstracts. There are currently four special sessions slated for the contributed program:

Mathematical Modeling in Biological Sciences, Organizer: Sergey Lapin and Elissa Schartz;

Teaching and Research in Actuarial Science, Organizer: Gary Parker;

Learning to Prove: Motivation and Methods, Organizer, Stephanie Salomone;

Junior Faculty Research: Organizers Kathryn Temple and James Bisgard

Undergraduate Research, Organizers: Donna Pierce and Michael Aristidou.

In addition, the organizers will be holding a Student Poster Session. If you have students interested in either giving a talk or a presenting in the poster session, please submit an abstract.

Submissions are currently under consideration for these sessions and the general contributed paper session. Inclusion of papers into special sessions are at the discretion of the session organizers. The deadline for abstract submission is March 1, 2009

Abstracts should be e-mailed to nordstro@up.edu. The preferred format is LaTeX (.tex); other formats (MS Word (.doc) or Portable Document Format (.pdf) will be reformatted in LaTeX as faithfully as possible. There is a sample abstract file attached

If you have a colleague or collaborator who you know is interested in presenting at the spring meeting, but who is not a section member, or is not likely to receive this call for papers, feel free to forward this message

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Regards,
Hans Nordstrom, Ph.D
