This webpage will take you through the basic idea behind standard ellipses and Cassini ellipses. After the derivation some interesting liquid effects will be demonstrated showing Cassini ellipses in 2D and 3D. Although all the explanations are with graphics I recommend going through some of my references since some of them have interesting interactive demonstrations of the graphical proofs I use.
