Besides weak Hopf algebras, categories and many other fascinating mathematical objects, I am very interested in mathematics education.
This term I am conducting a study with David Steinberg and Sandra Merchant on “exam wrappers”. These post-exam reflection surveys have been recently developed at Carnegie Mellon’s Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence. Following Marsha Lovett’s book chapter : Make Exams Worth More Than the Grade, in Kaplan, M., Silver, N., LaVaque-Manty, D., & Meizlish, D. (Eds.). Using reflection and metacognition to improve student learning. April 2013, Sterling, VA: Stylus Publishing, we want to measure the efficiency of this tool.
I will post my teaching philosophy and teaching portfolio here sometime soon.
