Where I Am

I'm currently Professor of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia.

Who I Am

After receiving my Ph.D. in 1993 under Professor David W. Boyd at the University of British Columbia, I held an NSERC (Canada) postdoc in the Department of Pure Mathematics at the University of Waterloo from 1993 to 1995 and an Assistant Professorship in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan from 1995 until 1998. I spent the year 1997-1998 at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, before moving to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I was an Assistant Professor from 1998 until my move to British Columbia in 2001. What I Do Mathematically

My research has mostly been in the areas of Number Theory, Diophantine Approximation and Classical Analysis. A good source of information in these areas is the Number Theory Web.

Click Publication list here to see a list of my publications (in the process of being updated December 2011; mostly available for download).

Some Things of Interest

Here she is, Little Claire!

Here is a collection of pictures from a 2006 trip to Banff.

A sign of the times.

Well, make that two signs of the times.

And yet another.

One of a very select group of women named Wallapak, who just happens to be my wife.

And finally, a few words(?) of Thai : Pom rak Wallagaew.
