Exams

The following applies to all exams in Math 221:

No aids of any kind: no calculators, no notes, no books.
No cell phones, no ipods, no electronic devices of any kind.

No make-up exams will be given.
Midterm Exam I.   Wednesday, October 7.

Covers Part I of the course, according to the updated syllabus.
Practice problems not covered by previous homework:

1.5.1 (all of them)
1.5.2 (d), (e), (f), (g), (h)

A sample midterm exam. It is longer than the actual exam. The actual
exam has 6 problems. The sample midterm solved.

The actual midterm with solutions. The class average (39 students)
was 15/25, which turned into 75% after scaling.
Midterm Exam II.   Friday, November 6.

Covers Part II of the course, according to the updated syllabus.

A sample midterm exam. It is longer than the actual exam. The actual
exam has 5 problems. The sample midterm solved with Problem 5 wrong.
Problem 5 corrected. There was also a small error in the solution to Problem 6,
which leads to a slightly different phase portrait.

The actual midterm with solutions. The class average (39 students)
was 16/25, which turned into 74% after scaling.
Final Exam.   Monday, December 21, 15:30-18:00, Math Annex 1100.

The exam will be 150 minutes in length.
It covers the entire course, according to the syllabus.
