Chuck Cadman - The geometry of root stacks and gerbes

Fri., January 09, 3:00, MATX 1100

Root stacks and gerbes were defined recently and have been very useful in algebraic geometry. I will give an introduction to these objects, providing several ways of understanding and visualizing them. Then I will describe some applications to Gromov-Witten theory, enumerative geometry, and toric geometry.
