This page will gradually evolve into a survey
of some of the projects
on related research being conducted elsewhere.
Other Neural Modelling Sites
- NRCAM, National Resource for Cell Analysis and Modeling: The Virtual Cell
(Les Loew, University of
Connecticut Health Center.) Models of cell physiological processes
using actual 2 and 3- dimensional structure of cells from high resolution
light microscopy. Incorporates advanced scientific computation techniques
at the level of a single cell or small groups of cells. The simulations
address distributions of substances inside and around cells.
- About the Virtual Cell The Scientist Vol 13 #10, May 1999
- GENESIS
GEneral NEural SImulation System.
(James A. Bower, Caltech): This is a freely available
general purpose simulation platform that has been
developed and used for simulation of neural systems.
It can be applied for detailed models of single neurons to
large networks of neurons. The simulations deal predominantly with
electrical activity of neurons and their firing patterns.
- L-neuron,
Giorgio Ascoli, Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study.
Simulations of the morphology of dendrites, the effect on neuronal
electrophysiology, and neuronal networks is the main thrust.

A neuroengineering lab at the University of Pennsylvania where
Hippocampal Function and Disease is modeled with emphasis on
Alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injury.
