The CLP calculus textbooks and problem books were written for standard university Calculus 1, 2, 3 and 4 courses at the Department of Mathematics, UBC.

As of August 2019, the problem books for Calculus-3 and -4 are under active development.

The authors are three UBC Mathematics Department faculty, Joel Feldman, Andrew Rechnitzer and Elyse Yeager who wrote the texts and problems during (roughly) 2015-2018.

The initial impetus for writing the texts was the ever rising cost of textbooks.

The text and problems were originally written in LaTeX, and were translated to PreTeXt in order to create the mobile versions (with help from both Rob Beezer and David Farmer). The images for the text were produced using a mixture of TikZ, Inkscape and tools produced by Joel Feldman.

Information on how to obtain the source files for the first 2 CLP texts can be found here. In time the source files for all 4 texts will be released under a Creative Commons Attribution- NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

For various reasons we have christened these notes “CLP” - none of those reasons can be found here.

If you are not a student at UBC and using these texts please send an email to clp@ugrad.math.ubc.ca - we’d love to hear from you.
