Merlin Pelz

Graduate Student

Merlin completed his B.Sc. in Technomathematics at the University of Bayreuth and his M.Sc. in Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich. He wrote his Master's thesis as a visiting student at the University of Chicago, advised by Prof. Mary Silber and Prof. Christian Kühn. Outside university, he was also a student researcher at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (NMPP IPP). Beginning his Ph.D. at UBC advised by Prof. Daniel Coombs and Prof. Michael Ward, he is interested in developing mathematical biology further rigorously with the theory of dynamical systems, (real, complex, numerical, stochastic) analysis, (P and S)DEs and probability.
