We found the free version of Microsoft Security Essential (MSE) can do a much better job and less hassle than Sophos. We encourage users to migrate to MSE.
4 steps Howto
1) Update your Windows OS first. If it needs to reboot, reboot it.
Run Update again until there are no more critical update.
Click IExplore -- Safety -- Windows update
2) Uninstall Sophos Antivirus, reboot
3) Uninstall Sophos Update
4) Download / Install MSE from www.microsoft.com
