As of 2011, UBC IT has taken over management and distribution of this software. The Department of Mathematics no longer distributes the software to other departments on campus; we only support local user installation. Please see the following page for more information about obtaining the software:

Supported systems

The Maplesoft web site documents the technical requirements and operating systems that Maple is available for. As of the writing of this document (Maple15), it is available for

  • Windows: XP/Vista/Server2008/7, 32/64 bit
  • Linux: RedHat Enterprise 5update5,6 / SuSe 10SP3,11SP1 / Ubuntu 10.04,10.10, 32 or 64 bit
  • MacOSX: 10.5,10.6 (Intel) / 10.5 (G4,G5) / 10.5-10.7 (Intel,64-bit) / 10.5 (G5,64-bit)
  • Solaris 10

Windows, Linux and MacOSX are available in standalone versions. (which requires a license key). There are also network license versions (FlexLM) available suitable for network wide deployment.

The software license stipulates it can be installed on

  • University owned computers: computer labs, computers purchased under grants, department laptops, etc.
  • Faculty owned machines: personal or office computers.

Installation Media

The installation media (DVD ISO) can be signed out from the MathNet IT office. Please call ahead to reserve the installation media. Alternatively, the ISO image of the installation package can be downloaded. Please contact the MathNet IT staff for details. Contact information can be found on our staff directory page.

Additional Resources

As part of our subscription, we are also subscribed to the EMP (Extended Maintenance Plan), which among other things, allows users access to MaplePrimes. MaplePrimes gives users additional Maple add-on components, documentation, downloading of versions of Maple for their extended list of platforms, etc. See
